Legal Counsel – Employment Law (Parental Leave Cover)

About the role

We are seeking an interim In‑house Legal Counsel to join Pleo’s Legal team in Copenhagen. The role covers parental‑leave leave until 30 September 2027 and will provide practical legal advice across the business as we scale our fintech platform.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary legal point of contact for all departments, delivering timely guidance on operational matters.
• Support the People team with employment‑law issues, contract reviews, policy drafting and multi‑jurisdictional labour compliance.
• Draft, review and update internal policies, procedures and standard legal templates.
• Assist with fraud and compliance escalations, performing liability assessments and risk‑mitigation advice.
• Handle customer disputes and regulatory engagements with the UK Financial Ombudsman Service, preparing responses and meeting deadlines.

Required profile

• Cand.Jur or equivalent legal qualification recognised in Denmark.
• 2‑5 years of legal experience, preferably in fintech, financial services or a fast‑growing scale‑up.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Proven ability to review, negotiate and draft commercial agreements.
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex legal concepts for non‑legal stakeholders.
