Assistant Professor of One Health Genomics

About the role

The Department of Public Health at the University of Copenhagen seeks an Assistant Professor to lead cutting‑edge research in One Health genomics. The role focuses on evolutionary modelling of large‑scale genomic and metagenomic datasets to understand the emergence of microbial novelty.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct advanced evolutionary modelling of metagenomic samples using state‑of‑the‑art computational tools.
• Perform extensive literature reviews and synthesize findings on AI applications in microbial genomics.
• Develop and validate bioinformatic pipelines for processing large genomic datasets.
• Publish research outcomes in peer‑reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
• Participate in research‑based teaching and contribute to formal pedagogical training for assistant professors.

Required profile

• PhD in genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in evolutionary modelling and metagenomic data analysis.
• Strong academic writing record, including review articles or opinion pieces.
• Ability to work at the interface of epidemiology, parasitology, statistics, mathematics, and bioinformatics.
