Postdoc in Skeletal Muscle Growth and Metabolism (2‑year fixed‑term)

About the role

The Muscle Growth and Metabolism Group seeks a postdoctoral researcher to investigate how novel pharmacological compounds regulate skeletal muscle hypertrophy and insulin sensitivity. The 2‑year fixed‑term position starts 1 January 2027 (or as soon as possible).

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct mouse studies, including ex vivo muscle incubations, AAV‑mediated gene targeting and unilateral immobilisation/reloading models.
• Perform molecular and metabolic analyses such as immunoblotting, qPCR, glucose uptake assays, protein synthesis measurements, histology, microscopy and coordinate transcriptomic and phosphoproteomic workflows.
• Collaborate with DTU on engineered human muscle tissue experiments.
• Publish findings, present at conferences and co‑supervise students.

Required profile

• PhD in exercise or molecular physiology, molecular biology, biomedicine or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience with in vivo mouse models and skeletal muscle biochemistry.
• Strong publication record relative to career stage and fluent English.

Required skills

• Mouse in vivo studies, ex vivo muscle incubation, AAV‑mediated gene targeting.
• Immunoblotting, qPCR, glucose uptake, protein synthesis assays, histology, microscopy.
• Transcriptomic and phosphoproteomic data coordination.
• Experience with CRISPR/AAV approaches, disuse/atrophy models, or receptor pharmacology is desirable.
