Tenure‑track Assistant/Associate Professor – Translational Cardiometabolic Research

About the role

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to lead a research group in translational cardiometabolic research. The appointment starts on 1 March 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and manage an independent research programme focused on diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis and heart failure.
• Integrate molecular discoveries with pharmacological and lifestyle interventions.
• Supervise undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students and contribute to teaching in biomedicine, physiology and pharmacology.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners to translate findings into therapeutic solutions.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant biomedical field (e.g., physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, or related life sciences).
• Strong publication record in cardiometabolic or related translational research.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain research funding and build a research team.
• Commitment to high‑quality teaching and mentorship.

Required skills

• Experience with cell‑based and animal models of cardiometabolic disease.
• Ability to design and conduct translational studies linking molecular mechanisms to therapeutic targets.
