PhD fellowship in Food Engineering

About the role

The Department of Food Science at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a PhD fellowship in Food Engineering, focusing on linking powder structure to performance. The project, in collaboration with Arla Foods, aims to start on 1 October 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Identify mechanisms governing dairy powder reconstitution across multiple length scales.
• Develop and apply experimental methodologies using state‑of‑the‑art characterization techniques.
• Integrate observations from a diverse library of dairy powders to establish composition‑microstructure‑function relationships.
• Collaborate with industry partners to translate fundamental findings into practical solutions.

Required profile

• Background in Food Engineering, Food Material Science, Dairy Engineering, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or Chemistry.
• Knowledge of dairy systems and relevant characterization methods is an advantage.
