Master Thesis – Virtual Belly Platform Simulation

About the role

Coloplast’s Master Thesis Program offers a unique opportunity for final‑year Mechanical Engineering students to work on the Virtual Belly Platform, a virtual test environment for evaluating ostomy products before physical prototypes are built.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a validation framework that links laboratory tests with simulation results.
• Design and execute test scenarios in both physical and virtual settings.
• Analyse and compare measurable outcomes to assess model accuracy.
• Identify improvement areas for the virtual representation of human skin.

Required profile

• Final‑year Mechanical Engineering student (or related discipline).
• Hands‑on experience with Finite Element Methods.
• Knowledge of material strength concepts (e.g., Strength of Materials II).

Required skills

• Finite Element Methods (FEA).
• Programming in Matlab, Fortran or Python.
