Postdoc in Democratic Innovations and Moralizing Politics

About the role

The Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a full‑time postdoctoral position focused on Democratic Innovations and Moralizing Politics. The role is part of the ERC‑funded MoPo project, which examines how moral judgments shape contemporary politics and how they can be harnessed to strengthen democracy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Work Package 4, developing policy and institutional recommendations to channel moralizing politics constructively.
• Collaborate with other work packages, especially WP3, to integrate theoretical insights into practical reforms.
• Conduct interdisciplinary research combining philosophical analysis, political theory, and empirical studies.
• Prepare academic publications, conference papers, and policy briefs.
• Contribute to teaching and supervision activities within the department as needed.

Required profile

• PhD in Political Science, Philosophy, Sociology, or a closely related field.
• Strong background in democratic theory, moral psychology, or political philosophy.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct high‑quality interdisciplinary research.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Experience publishing in peer‑reviewed journals is preferred.
