Assistant Professor of Molecular Pharmacology

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Professor to lead molecular pharmacology research on G protein‑coupled receptors (GPCRs) within a 2‑3‑year fixed‑term appointment starting 1 December 2026. The position is part of a project funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark that aims to link natural genetic variation in drug targets to clinical phenotypes for personalized medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute in‑vitro pharmacological studies on GPCR genetic variants using recombinant cell lines.
• Screen and characterize novel ligands on GPCR targets with a broad suite of pharmacological assays.
• Develop and implement high‑dimensional data acquisition techniques, including DNA cloning, cell sorting and RNA purification.
• Integrate molecular biology, pharmacology, bioinformatics and data‑science approaches to generate actionable insights.
• Mentor postdoctoral researchers and PhD students within the interdisciplinary group.

Required profile

• Strong research background in molecular pharmacology of GPCRs.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international, mixed computational‑experimental environment.
• Experience with recombinant DNA technology and cell‑based assay development.
• Motivation to build new experimental platforms and contribute to translational pharmacogenomics.
