Senior Mechanical Construction Project Manager - Data Centre

About the role

Turner & Townsend is looking for a Senior Mechanical Construction Project Manager to oversee the pre-construction, construction, commissioning and close-out phases of a hyperscale, state-of-the-art data centre project for a global technology client, based on site in Fredericia, Denmark. The role focuses on mechanical systems and engineering and requires full-time on-site presence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical pre-construction activities, including constructability in design, procurement and contracts, project planning and budget planning.
• Lead and manage mechanical construction, keeping the project on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
• Oversee mechanical system installations, including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing and fire protection, and ensure designs align with design intent and client expectations.
• Assist the design team with constructability and localization, and play a key part in procuring contractors and vendors.
• Supervise mechanical subcontractors, vendors and suppliers, and manage health and safety on site.
• Oversee commissioning and handover, ensuring test reports, as-built drawings and O&M manuals are accurate and handed over to the client.
• Act as the primary point of contact for the client on mechanical issues, advise the client and manage risks and scope changes.
• Review and approve subcontractor invoices and work schedules, and conduct site safety audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; professional certifications such as PMP or LEED are a plus.
• At least 7 years of experience in mechanical project management on construction sites, including data centre projects.
• Proven experience managing large, complex mechanical systems installations and commissioning.
• Experience with owner's representation and working directly with clients, contractors and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Expertise in data centre mechanical systems such as HVAC, cooling, fire suppression and energy management.
• Proficiency in construction management software and tools such as Procore, MS Project and BIM.
• Project management skills including planning, scheduling and budgeting.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
