Research Scientist – Cardiac Proteomics & Systems Biology

About the role

The University of Copenhagen seeks a motivated Research Scientist to join its Cardiac Proteomics & Systems Biology group. The role focuses on analysing multi‑omics datasets from animal models, patient samples and cell systems to uncover molecular mechanisms driving cardiometabolic disease.

Key responsibilities

• Perform in‑depth analysis of mass‑spectrometry‑based proteomics data.
• Lead data‑analysis pipelines for large‑scale cardiac tissue proteomics, single‑cell and spatial proteomics, phosphoproteomics and protein‑interaction studies.
• Develop and apply computational methods for functional interpretation of proteomics data.
• Explore and implement novel analytical approaches to enhance data interpretation.
• Translate complex data into biologically meaningful insights relevant to heart disease.
• Communicate findings clearly in writing and contribute to scientific publications.

Required profile

• PhD in a quantitative or cardiovascular discipline (e.g., bioinformatics, systems biology, cardiovascular medicine).
• Strong research experience in an ambitious academic environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Motivation to explore new analytical strategies and work independently.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with mass‑spectrometry‑based proteomics.
• Experience with single‑cell transcriptomics and spatial transcriptomics.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably R and/or Python.
• Knowledge of phosphoproteomics and protein‑interaction analysis.
