About the role

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen invites early‑career researchers to join its vibrant community as postdoctoral fellows. Positions span one to three years and focus on statistics, insurance mathematics, mathematical finance, econometrics, applied probability and related areas.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research in the advertised thematic areas.
• Publish findings in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Teach two half‑semester courses per year, typically including one teaching‑assistant role.
• Participate in departmental seminars, workshops and occasional project‑specific duties.

Required profile

• PhD in mathematics, statistics, economics, finance or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of scholarly publications or a clear research plan.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of interdisciplinary research groups.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Expertise in mathematical modeling, statistical analysis and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with topics such as insurance mathematics, causal inference, Wasserstein spaces or decision‑dependent uncertainty.
