About the role
The Department of Food Science at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Food and Ingredient Biochemical Processing. The role supports the new MSc Biosolutions programme in Kalundborg and aims to develop biology‑based solutions for sustainable food production, security and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead an independent research programme on biochemically based food and ingredient technologies.
- Secure national and international external funding and manage research budgets.
- Supervise PhD and master’s students and contribute to curriculum development, including teaching in Danish within 3–6 years.
- Establish and maintain collaborations with industry partners in the Kalundborg bio‑manufacturing hub.
- Integrate sensor technologies, data modelling and predictive tools into food process research.
Required profile
- PhD in Food Science, Biochemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Documented scientific impact and a proven track record of attracting external research funding.
- Experience with international collaborations and ability to build strong industrial partnerships.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to teach in Danish after a short transition period.
Required skills
- Food process technology, especially fermentation and downstream processing.
- Food process system engineering.
- In‑line or at‑line spectroscopic sensor technologies.
- Large‑data modelling and prediction of food and ingredient processes.
- Understanding of biological production systems.
