PhD fellowship in molecular nanomaterials

About the role
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a three‑year PhD fellowship focused on molecular nanomaterials and low‑dimensional materials. The project starts on 1 November 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and involves the design, synthesis, and characterization of new organic conjugated molecules with fluorescent and electroactive properties.
Key responsibilities
- Design and synthesize novel organic conjugated molecules and nano‑materials.
- Characterize fluorescent and electroactive properties using spectroscopy.
- Develop applications for imaging, sensing, and energy materials.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research groups within the Nano‑Science Center.
Required profile
- Background in chemistry, physics or material science (equivalent to a Danish master’s degree).
- Strong motivation for research and ability to work in an international team.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Required skills
- Fluorescence spectroscopy.
- Time‑Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) and time‑resolved spectroscopy.
- Experience with molecular and low‑dimensional materials.
- Nanoparticle handling and bio‑conjugation techniques.
- Organic synthesis and spectroscopic characterization.
