About the role

The Defence is seeking a strategic and technically strong Operations Manager to lead the maintenance cycle of a frigate throughout its five‑year service life. You will act as the central driver ensuring the vessel meets operational requirements and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a realistic five‑year maintenance plan, including the major overhaul.
• Lead the major overhaul project, defining scope, schedule and resources in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence’s Materiel and Procurement Agency, workshops and external suppliers.
• Coordinate operational needs with maintenance requirements to keep the ship’s material condition aligned with fleet capacity.
• Manage stakeholder forums and serve as the primary contact for internal actors and subcontractors.
• Prepare decision proposals and impact assessments for senior leadership when operational plans change.

Required profile

• Rank of Orlogskaptajn (naval captain) with ability to navigate complex technical environments.
• Strong technical/maritime understanding of ship systems and regulatory safety standards.
• Proven experience in project and programme management, including budgeting and risk handling.
• Strategic overview to align individual ship needs with overall fleet objectives.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical information for senior management.
• Structured, analytical work style focused on delivering results on time and within budget.
