Full Professor in Psychology – Criminology & Violent Extremism

About the role

The Department of Psychology at the University of Copenhagen seeks a Full Professor to lead research and teaching in criminology, violent extremism, radicalisation and related fields. The appointment strengthens the department’s interdisciplinary profile and supports emerging initiatives such as the Copenhagen Centre for Criminology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and sustain a high‑impact research programme on criminology and violent extremism.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise PhD candidates and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Provide academic leadership within the SCOPE section and across the Faculty of Social Sciences.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within the university and with external partners.
• Contribute to societal outreach and policy‑relevant projects.

Required profile

• Established international research record in criminology, violent extremism, radicalisation or terrorism.
• Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and secure external funding.
• Experience in teaching diverse student groups at bachelor, master and doctoral levels.
• Commitment to high ethical standards and societal relevance.

Required skills

• Strong scholarly writing and publication record.
• Ability to design and conduct mixed‑methods research.
• Leadership and mentorship capabilities.
