Senior Construction Engineer - Offshore Wind

About the role

Vattenfall's Business Area Wind develops, constructs and operates onshore and offshore wind, solar PV and battery projects in several countries. Within the Offshore business unit, Project Execution handles the contracting and execution of construction projects. It is looking for an experienced Senior Construction Engineer to join the Construction Management team and lead assigned work scopes, reporting to the Construction Manager. The role covers planning, procurement, execution, logistics and close-out of offshore construction activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead assigned scopes such as interim maintenance services, CSOV, CTV, guard vessels, temporary aids to navigation, site setup, harbour facilities, communication systems, marine coordination support, documentation and procedures.
• Manage each scope from concept and specification through procurement, contract implementation, execution and close-out, within budget, schedule, quality and HSE requirements.
• Develop technical specifications, scopes of work, evaluation criteria and technical recommendations for procurement.
• Manage contractors and review their engineering documentation, procedures, risk assessments and work packs.
• Maintain construction management procedures, site descriptions, work plans and readiness documentation.
• Coordinate interfaces between contractors, package managers, site management, marine coordination, O&M and external stakeholders.
• Support offshore campaign execution, resolve operational issues and capture lessons learned.
• Establish and manage parts of the construction management contract portfolio, including scope, cost, schedule, contractor performance and change control.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification, with fluent written and spoken English.
• At least eight years of experience in offshore construction, offshore wind, marine operations or comparable industries, including responsibility for complex technical work scopes.
• Demonstrated experience managing work scopes from early engineering through procurement, contract implementation and offshore execution.
• Relevant offshore training and certifications expected for the assigned work scopes.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of offshore construction interfaces and vessel operations (foundations, cables, WTGs, CSOVs, CTVs, marine logistics, contractor mobilisation, marine coordination).
• Practical experience coordinating contractors and multiple work scopes in a live offshore construction environment.
• Early identification of technical, operational and logistical risks and proactive mitigation.
• Strong knowledge of HSE management, risk assessment, marine regulations and permit conditions.
• Stakeholder management with contractors, package teams, site management and O&M organisations.
