Job description

About the role

The Mathiasen Group at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the GPCRmec project, a Novo Nordisk Foundation‑funded initiative investigating GPCR mechanosensation. The position starts on 1 October 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and lasts for one year.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement novel fluorescence‑based assays to study GPCR oligomerization and mechanosensation at the subcellular level.
  • Perform confocal and other fluorescence imaging experiments on live mammalian cells.
  • Conduct GPCR signalling assays and analyse data to elucidate mechanisms of mechanical stress response.
  • Collaborate with researchers at the Niels Bohr Institute and the Department of Chemistry for cross‑disciplinary expertise and microscopy access.
  • Prepare scientific reports, present findings, and contribute to peer‑reviewed publications.

Required profile

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Biophysics, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or a related field.
  • Proven experience with confocal and fluorescence imaging techniques.
  • Experience investigating GPCR signalling, function, and oligomerization.
  • Skilled in mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology methods.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with MSc and PhD students.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

  • Confocal imaging
  • Fluorescence microscopy
  • GPCR signalling assays
  • Cell culture (mammalian)
