Postdoctoral researcher – GPCR mechanosensing

About the role
The Mathiasen Group at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the GPCRmec project, a Novo Nordisk Foundation‑funded initiative investigating GPCR mechanosensation. The position starts on 1 October 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and lasts for one year.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement novel fluorescence‑based assays to study GPCR oligomerization and mechanosensation at the subcellular level.
- Perform confocal and other fluorescence imaging experiments on live mammalian cells.
- Conduct GPCR signalling assays and analyse data to elucidate mechanisms of mechanical stress response.
- Collaborate with researchers at the Niels Bohr Institute and the Department of Chemistry for cross‑disciplinary expertise and microscopy access.
- Prepare scientific reports, present findings, and contribute to peer‑reviewed publications.
Required profile
- PhD (or equivalent) in Biophysics, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or a related field.
- Proven experience with confocal and fluorescence imaging techniques.
- Experience investigating GPCR signalling, function, and oligomerization.
- Skilled in mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology methods.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with MSc and PhD students.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
