About the role

The laboratory of Asst. Professor Kelli Hvorecny is launching a two‑year, fully funded postdoctoral position to lead projects on the conservation and regulation of metabolic enzyme assemblies across evolution. The appointment starts on 1 September 2026 (or shortly thereafter) within the Linderstrøm‑Lang Centre for Protein Science.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, execute and analyse experiments in protein biochemistry, structural biology and cell biology.
  • Collect and process cryo‑electron microscopy data.
  • Maintain cell‑culture systems, perform transfections and biochemical assays.
  • Contribute to teaching activities and mentor junior trainees.
  • Help establish the culture and organisational practices of the new laboratory.

Required profile

  • PhD (or equivalent) in biochemistry, structural biology, cell biology or a related field.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Self‑motivated, curiosity‑driven and able to take initiative.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

  • Protein expression and purification.
  • Cryo‑electron microscopy data collection and processing.
  • Cell culture and transfection techniques.
  • Design and execution of biochemical and cell‑biological experiments.
  • R programming for data analysis and plotting (plus fluorescence microscopy is a plus).
