Postdoc in Computational Food Data Integration and Predictive Quality Modelling

About the role
The Department of Food Science at the University of Copenhagen seeks a postdoctoral researcher to lead computational integration of food data and develop predictive quality models. The 24‑month position starts on 1 November 2026 within the Horizon Europe MICROORC project and the RECIPE research consortium.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and execute a research project on probabilistic modelling of microbial spoilage and shelf‑life prediction.
- Develop and maintain data infrastructure linking recipes with nutritional, sustainability, flavor, and cost information.
- Produce scientific articles and present results at international conferences.
- Co‑supervise MSc and BSc students.
- Collaborate with academic and industrial partners across Europe.
Required profile
- PhD in computer science, bioinformatics, food science or a related discipline.
- Documented experience with Bayesian statistical modelling and deep learning applied to biological or food systems.
- Experience in natural language processing of domain‑specific text using transformer‑based models.
- Experience working with structured food data resources such as databases, ontologies or knowledge graphs.
- Strong record of first‑author publications in peer‑reviewed journals or conferences.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
