Network Security Engineer – Mobile Networks

About the role

Telenor is looking for a Network Security Engineer to join its Mobile Core team in Aalborg. The team secures the central functions and services of the mobile network, working across technologies with operations, engineering, architecture and security. You will become the internal expert on Mobile Core, protocol analysis and cybersecurity, building knowledge of protocols from 2G/3G and 4G to 5G and turning findings into concrete security improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze signaling data and identify unusual traffic patterns, misconfigurations and potential security risks
• Develop and maintain detection rules, alarms, dashboards and reports in the monitoring platform
• Run controlled security tests in secure test environments and document results
• Help turn security requirements and threat assessments into practical improvements in the Mobile Core

Required profile

• A strong security mindset and ability to spot vulnerabilities
• Methodical work with large amounts of information and persistence
• Clear communication and willingness to collaborate with specialists and other groups
• Relevant experience can come from a degree, study job, internship or technical position; formal education is not required if you have built practical skills elsewhere
• Security clearance: residence in Denmark for the last seven years and a high-level security clearance, which is a condition of employment

Required skills

• Basic understanding of IP networks, systems, network architecture or cybersecurity
• Interest in protocol, traffic or log analysis; tools such as Wireshark and PCAP data are mentioned
• Linux and the ability to write or adapt scripts and tools for analysis, automation and troubleshooting

The main workplace is Skelagervej in Aalborg, with home work possible by agreement. Applications close on 25 October.
