Lead Engineer – Data & AI

About the role

Maersk is looking for a senior individual contributor to own the architecture of its data and AI platform. You will design, build, and ship critical components while shaping standards for agentic coding across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Own architecture for major platform components from storage to application and agent layers.
• Define target architectures, migration paths, and make build‑vs‑buy decisions with clear cost and risk analysis.
• Write and deploy production code, delivering reference implementations for other teams.
• Set standards for data contracts, lineage, schema evolution, access control and cost management.
• Establish agentic engineering practices, including internal tooling, MCP servers, reusable skills and code‑review standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering systems used by multiple teams, with deep knowledge of distributed‑system fundamentals.
• Hands‑on expertise in data engineering platforms (Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi, dbt, change‑data‑capture, streaming).
• Strong software‑engineering background with mastery of at least one programming language and fluency in others.
• Experience building, deploying and governing large‑scale AI/ML pipelines and agentic coding tools.
