Investment Principal / Director – Frontier Tech

About the role

BlackWood Ventures is raising a €50M Fund II and seeks an Investment Principal/Director to lead its Frontier Tech investing. Based in Copenhagen (with an option for Zurich), you will work directly with the founders to shape the fund’s thesis and portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Deal Leadership – source, lead and close Frontier Tech investments from first meeting to term sheet and present opportunities to the Investment Committee.
• Pipeline Ownership – build and grow a strong Frontier Tech deal flow across Europe, leveraging a network of partners, co‑investors and angels.
• Investment Strategy – own the Frontier Tech thesis and collaborate on BlackWood’s overall investment strategy.
• Portfolio Support – take board or observer roles, support follow‑on decisions and help portfolio companies scale.
• Team Leadership – mentor junior investment team members.
• Building BlackWood – help shape fund operations and innovate VC processes.

Required profile

• Venture investing experience, ideally in Frontier Tech, with an active deal flow you can bring from day one.
• Deep expertise in AI infrastructure, compute, energy systems or AI security, backed by a technical background (engineering, computer science or physics).
• Strong network across Europe’s Frontier Tech founders and investors.
• Clear convictions about future technology trends, good judgment and a structured diligence approach.
• Fluent English, EU or Swiss work permit, and a founder‑like mindset.
