Head of Category Management – Automation, Storage & Packing

About the role

Maersk is seeking a forward‑thinking leader to shape the global category strategy for automation, storage and packing solutions across its warehouse network. You will drive investment decisions, accelerate innovation and build scalable solutions that support the company’s growth ambitions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own global category strategies aligned with Maersk’s warehouse network and growth objectives.
• Translate business ambitions into clear roadmaps, investment priorities and sourcing strategies.
• Connect market intelligence, technology developments and supplier innovation with long‑term business needs.
• Create commercial models that optimise value across the asset lifecycle, including CAPEX, OPEX, financing and performance‑based solutions.
• Lead strategic negotiations and sourcing initiatives across a complex global supplier portfolio.
• Build executive‑level relationships with strategic suppliers and technology partners.
• Drive supplier performance, innovation, resilience and risk management.
• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team of Global Category Managers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in category management, procurement leadership or related fields such as automation, warehousing or material handling.
• Track record of developing and executing category strategies for large, international spend portfolios.
• Strong commercial mindset with experience in strategic sourcing, high‑value negotiations and complex commercial models.
• Solid business and financial acumen, including CAPEX, OPEX, NPV, ROI and total cost of ownership.
• Ability to influence senior decision‑makers across functions and geographies.
• Experience leading geographically distributed, high‑performing teams.
