Assistant Professor – Health Complexity

About the role

The Copenhagen Health Complexity Center invites applications for a three‑year Assistant Professorship in Health Complexity, starting 1 October 2026. The position is based in the Department of Public Health at the University of Copenhagen and is embedded in the ERC‑funded LAYERS project, which investigates how childhood adversity shapes health inequality across generations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop an independent research agenda on the social and health mechanisms driving health inequalities.
• Lead and contribute to interdisciplinary projects within the LAYERS consortium, using the DANLIFE cohort.
• Secure external research funding and publish findings in high‑impact journals.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public health, epidemiology, and data science.
• Supervise PhD and master’s students and mentor junior researchers.

Required profile

• PhD in public health, epidemiology, data science, or a related discipline.
• Strong record of interdisciplinary research and publications.
• Experience with large‑scale longitudinal data and complex statistical modelling.
• Ability to collaborate across social‑science, health‑science, and systems‑science teams.
