Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Philosophy

About the role

The University of Copenhagen is seeking a visionary, team‑oriented tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Philosophy to start on 1 February 2027 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The position is open to candidates working in theoretical, practical, or history of philosophy and includes teaching courses on German or French philosophy after 1900, as well as any additional subjects not covered by current faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality research leading to peer‑reviewed publications and public dissemination.
• Develop, organise and deliver research‑based teaching at BA and MA levels.
• Participate actively in the Section’s seminars, reading groups, talks and collegial events.
• Explore societal impact of research and pursue innovation‑oriented projects.
• Apply for and manage external research funding.
• Contribute to a diverse and inclusive working environment.
• Complete a teacher‑training course and take part in examinations and departmental administration.

Required profile

• Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Philosophy with a strong research record.
• Ambitious research and teaching plans demonstrating originality and international standards.
• Innovative and visionary mindset with interest in developing the Section’s research profile.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to foster an inclusive, open‑minded teaching environment for BA and MA programmes.
