Senior Software Engineer – Graphs

About the role

The engineering team at Chainalysis builds AI‑driven platforms that automate entity resolution and detect illicit cryptocurrency activity. As a Senior Software Engineer in the Investigations group, you will own the design and delivery of graph‑based data services and customer‑facing features that power our market‑leading analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, maintenance and development of cloud‑native data ingest and aggregation processes handling gigabytes of data daily.
• Drive delivery of features across the product suite that detect market manipulation, fraud, and behavioural patterns.
• Own and scale high‑performance services on AWS that process thousands of requests per second.
• Guide the team’s modernization toward a streaming architecture, establishing technical direction and best practices.
• Direct the graphing platform strategy, enabling visual insight across multiple products.
• Debug and resolve production issues across systems, mentoring the team through complex challenges.
• Mentor and grow engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and implementing cloud‑native services on major providers such as AWS or GCP.
• Strong track record of mentoring engineers, leading cross‑team projects, and making senior‑level design decisions.
• Ability to align technical execution with product and design partners, with a bias toward shipping and iterating.
• Deep experience with object‑oriented programming; primary languages include Java and TypeScript.
• Extensive background working on complex backend and/or frontend systems in leadership roles.
• Ownership of product ideas from inception through production.
• Good understanding of both frontend and backend best practices and paradigms.
• Experience integrating AI into customer‑facing products or engineering infrastructure.
