About the role
As Senior Engineering Manager – Network Core Engineering at Maersk, you will lead a global engineering team delivering secure, reliable network core products and services. You will be responsible for the design, build and operation of core connectivity services, driving automation and measurable reliability across a highly distributed enterprise.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a global engineering team responsible for building and running network core services with clear ownership of reliability and operational outcomes.
- Own the product engineering lifecycle for core connectivity services, including roadmap execution, modernization, technical debt management and continuous improvement.
- Establish and operate measurable reliability management by defining service indicators, monitoring health and driving data‑driven improvements.
- Drive automation‑first delivery using Infrastructure‑as‑Code and CI/CD practices for safe network change deployment.
- Partner with Network Operational Intelligence and product operations teams to adopt golden automation patterns, improve delivery performance and ensure transparent cost drivers.
- Collaborate with enterprise network architecture to align standards while enabling high‑speed delivery.
- Own cost leadership and total cost of ownership for core services, optimizing capacity, carriers and vendor relationships.
- Develop engineering talent, foster an inclusive culture and build strong stakeholder relationships across infrastructure and security domains.
Required profile
- 15+ years of experience in enterprise network backbone, cloud networking and data‑center networking in global, multi‑vendor environments, including senior engineering leadership.
- Proven record leading build‑and‑run services that combine engineering, operations and automation disciplines.
- Strong product‑led mindset with clear service contracts, adoption focus and customer‑outcome orientation.
- Effective stakeholder leadership across infrastructure and cyber‑security teams, defining decision boundaries and scalable interfaces.
- Demonstrated people leadership building diverse, inclusive teams.
Required skills
- Backbone/core routing and engineering (IP/MPLS R&S, MPLS‑TE, L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN, IPSec, SD‑WAN).
- Hybrid and multi‑cloud connectivity design and operations (cloud interconnect/exchange, hub‑based constructs, DC LAN, CLOS fabrics, SONiC, NG firewalls, WAF, load balancers, web proxies).
- Network automation using Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Python, NETCONF/RESTCONF/YANG, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, AIOps).
- Operational observability and reliability practices (telemetry, monitoring, runbooks, recovery patterns).
