Mechanical Engineer – Product Design Maintenance

About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in product design maintenance, you will own engineering changes that keep Alfa Laval’s existing product portfolio performing at its best. You will work at the centre of the engineering organisation, driving mechanical and system design changes from assessment through implementation and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead changes to structural steel, mechanical designs and components such as valves, fans and pumps.
• Assess impact on surrounding systems, risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA, DFMEA) and create Technical Solution Descriptions.
• Select components, write specifications and evaluate supplier proposals.
• Implement changes in mechanical design, P&IDs and related process documentation.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical steel design, including structures and pressure vessels.
• Strong analytical, collaborative and communication skills.

Required skills

• Basic CAD experience (Inventor viewer level or similar).
• Familiarity with PLM tools such as Autodesk Vault or Siemens Teamcenter.
• Experience with risk assessment methods (HAZOP, FMEA, DFMEA).
• Knowledge of marine or industrial components (burners, boilers, heat exchangers, scrubbers) is a plus.
