Engineering Manager - Network Services

About the role

Maersk is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and influence the evolution of enterprise network services supporting its complex global logistics organisation. The role involves working with regional and global teams across Product, Architecture, Cyber Security, Service Management and Operations, and coaching a team of network engineering professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Network Engineers and Senior Network Engineers, setting priorities, objectives and performance expectations.
• Manage operational demand across incidents, service requests, problem investigations and planned changes while balancing engineering delivery commitments.
• Oversee the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of LAN, WAN, SD-WAN and NFV services across regional sites.
• Coordinate technical escalations and major incident responses with internal stakeholders, vendors and delivery partners.
• Drive lifecycle management, technical debt reduction, automation, service standardisation and reliability improvements.
• Partner with Product, Architecture and Cyber Security teams on global standards, reference architectures and security controls.
• Manage regional network risks, capacity, resilience, performance and supplier relationships, with visibility of delivery progress and outcomes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience leading network engineering teams in a large enterprise, service provider, systems integrator or managed services environment.
• Experience delivering and operating network services across geographically distributed sites such as offices, warehouses, terminals or manufacturing facilities.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, people leadership, coaching, workforce planning and vendor management.
• Experience managing major incidents, escalations, root cause investigations, corrective actions and service improvement programmes.

Required skills

• Enterprise LAN, WLAN, WAN and SD-WAN technologies, including routing, switching, segmentation, resilience, security and high availability.
• Knowledge of SD-WAN platforms such as Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, Cisco Meraki or Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, and network security principles.
• Advantageous: network automation, APIs, Python, Ansible, Infrastructure as Code, observability, SASE/SSE, cloud networking, Agile delivery and ITIL.
• Desirable certifications such as Cisco CCNP Enterprise, Cisco or Fortinet SD-WAN, HPE Aruba or Juniper.
