Associate Professor – Endocrine Physiology & Behavior

About the role

The Department of Biology at the University of Copenhagen seeks a 3‑year fixed‑term Associate Professor to lead research on endocrine physiology and behavior using Drosophila as a model system.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct independent research on inter‑organ communication, hormonal signaling and metabolic adaptation.
• Develop and run high‑throughput assays for sleep, feeding, locomotion, exercise adaptation and metabolic flexibility.
• Participate in large‑scale functional screens of circulating factors and exerkines.
• Teach undergraduate and Master’s courses and supervise bachelor’s and Master’s students.
• Contribute to grant writing, publications and collaborative projects within the department.

Required profile

• PhD in biology, physiology, genetics or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in Drosophila genetics and cell biology.
• Experience studying endocrine control of metabolism and behavior.
• Strong record of independent research and ability to secure external funding.
