Job description

About the role

The laboratory of Alexander M. Walter at the University of Copenhagen seeks a postdoctoral researcher to investigate molecular and nanoscale mechanisms of synaptic transmission and presynaptic plasticity using Drosophila models. The project combines electrophysiology, advanced imaging, and computational modeling to uncover how release site organization and neuromodulatory signaling shape neurotransmitter release.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform synaptic electrophysiology experiments to assess plasticity mechanisms.
  • Conduct live‑cell and super‑resolution imaging of synaptic structures.
  • Generate and analyze quantitative image data using specialized software.
  • Develop and apply computational models to interpret experimental results.
  • Collaborate with genetics, physiology, and theoretical neuroscience groups.
  • Prepare manuscripts and present findings at conferences.

Required profile

  • Highly motivated researcher with strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interactive research team.
  • Experience with Drosophila genetics is advantageous but not mandatory.
