Head of L&S Category Management - Automation, Storage and Packing Solutions

About the role

Maersk is looking for a Head of Category Management for Automation, Storage and Packing Solutions, based in Copenhagen. The role shapes the category strategy, value proposition and supplier ecosystem behind Maersk's warehouse infrastructure, covering automation, robotics, storage and racking systems, packing solutions and emerging technologies across roughly 450 warehouses (more than USD 200 million in annual spend). It leads a team of Global Category Managers and works across Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Finance and Technology. The position is full-time and office-based (5 days a week); candidates must have the right to work in Denmark and relocation support is not available.

Key responsibilities

• Own and develop global category strategies aligned with business objectives, turning growth ambitions into category roadmaps, investment priorities and sourcing strategies.
• Connect market intelligence, technology developments and supplier innovation with long-term business needs.
• Develop commercial models covering CAPEX, OPEX, financing, leasing and performance-based solutions, and strengthen business cases with Finance, Engineering and Operations.
• Lead strategic negotiations and sourcing across a complex global supplier portfolio, and build executive-level relationships with suppliers and technology partners.
• Drive supplier performance, innovation, resilience and risk management.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of Global Category Managers, set governance and decision rights across regions and functions, and champion change.

Required profile

• Experience in category management, procurement leadership, supply chain, engineering, automation, warehousing, material handling or storage systems.
• Proven track record of category strategies across complex international spend portfolios, with a cost-deflationary mindset and strong negotiation experience.
• Business and financial acumen, including CAPEX, OPEX, cash flow, NPV, ROI, ROIC and total cost of ownership.
• Experience building strategic supplier partnerships and leading geographically distributed teams.
• Relevant degree in business, engineering, supply chain, finance or another applicable discipline.
