Tenure‑track Assistant/Associate Professor of Translational Cardiometabolic Research

About the role

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is seeking a tenure‑track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to lead a new research group in translational cardiometabolic research. The appointment is expected to start on 1 March 2027 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and will combine independent research, teaching, and supervision of graduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent, externally funded research programme focused on diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, heart failure and related cardiometabolic disorders.
• Teach and develop undergraduate and postgraduate courses in biomedicine, physiology and pharmacology.
• Supervise MSc and PhD students, providing mentorship and guidance.
• Collaborate with department members, clinical partners and industry to translate mechanistic insights into therapeutic innovations.
• Contribute to departmental strategy, service activities and outreach.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant biomedical discipline (e.g., physiology, pharmacology, molecular biology).
• Strong publication record in translational cardiometabolic research.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain research funding and lead a research team.
• Experience in teaching and supervising graduate students.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
