About the role

The Department of Biology at the University of Copenhagen seeks a research-supporting academic employee to join the Endocrinology and Metabolism group. The role focuses on Drosophila metabolism and behavioral physiology, contributing to externally funded projects on inter‑organ signaling.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments using Drosophila models to study appetite regulation and metabolism.
  • Maintain fly stocks, set up genetic crosses, and manage experimental timelines.
  • Perform behavioral and metabolic assays, including feeding, nutrient preference, glycogen, glucose and triglyceride measurements.
  • Apply molecular and cell‑biological techniques such as RNA extraction, qPCR, immunostaining, microscopy and sample preparation for biochemical or omics analyses.
  • Analyse quantitative data, prepare figures, document methods and assist in manuscript, report and grant preparation.
  • Coordinate daily laboratory activities, support students and colleagues, and ensure efficient workflow.

Required profile

  • Relevant academic degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology or related field; PhD or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Drosophila genetics, physiology, metabolism or behavioral assays.
  • Strong practical, analytical and organisational skills.
