Principal Data Platform Engineer

About the role

Novo Nordisk is looking for a Principal Data Platform Engineer in its Data Marketplace and Platform Engineering team (Enterprise IT & Quality) in Ballerup. You will set the technical direction for the DataCore Platform, the enterprise data and analytics platform built on Databricks, shaping engineering standards, guiding architecture and strengthening scalable, secure and compliant platform capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Drive technical leadership and platform engineering strategy for the DataCore Platform.
• Define and implement engineering standards, reusable patterns and best practices, including Infrastructure as Code and automation.
• Lead architecture decisions across the platform team, AWS, Azure, Terraform and Databricks, ensuring secure, scalable, reliable and compliant solutions.
• Support and enable Data Mesh aligned platform capabilities.
• Mentor senior engineers and strengthen engineering excellence across global teams.
• Influence platform evolution and technical decisions across global stakeholders, in line with the quality management system.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Extensive experience in enterprise platform engineering and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience in highly regulated environments such as pharmaceutical, healthcare or financial services.
• Track record of mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Terraform, AWS, Azure, Databricks, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Infrastructure as Code and platform automation.
• Data Mesh concepts and enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Governance, security, compliance and operational excellence.
• Useful but not essential: global enterprise experience, platform modernisation, observability and reliability engineering.

The annual base salary ranges from 742,600 to 1,091,600 DKK, depending on skills and experience. Applications close on 9 October 2026.
