Postdoctoral researcher in digital media & communication

About the role

The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a three‑year postdoctoral position focused on digital media and communication. The role is part of the GREENWATCH project, which investigates the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) for monitoring ecological impacts while addressing surveillance concerns.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct conceptual and normative analyses of IoT imaginaries in China, Europe, and the United States.
• Develop theoretical frameworks on the ethical and political dimensions of digital media.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across multiple countries.
• Contribute to publications and present findings at international conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in communication, media studies, digital humanities, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in ethical and political aspects of digital media.
• Experience with cross‑cultural research and familiarity with non‑Western communication theory is preferred.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
