Global Strategic Purchaser

About the role

As a Global Strategic Purchaser you will own and drive the global sourcing strategy for a sub‑commodity group within Alfa Laval’s Electrical, Instrumentation & Flow Items portfolio, managing an annual spend of €50‑70 million. You will shape supplier strategy, optimise the supply chain and ensure cost, quality, delivery and risk objectives are met.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the global sourcing strategy for the assigned sub‑commodity group.
• Optimise the global supplier base and supply chain to improve cost, quality, delivery and resilience.
• Lead international supplier negotiations and secure commercial agreements and contract coverage.
• Drive supplier performance, consolidation and continuous improvement.
• Partner with R&D and Product Management on sourcing for new product development.
• Manage sourcing activities during supply disruptions, quality issues or supplier‑related crises.
• Collaborate with factories, distribution centres, product centres and purchasing teams worldwide.
• Ensure supplier compliance with sustainability, regulatory and business requirements.
• Identify and drive opportunities for digitalisation, sustainability and continuous improvement.

• Structured, persistent and commercially minded professional who takes ownership and drives results.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across cultures and functions.
• Resilient in challenging negotiations or supply situations and comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
• Curious, open to different perspectives and able to turn ideas into action.

Required skills

• 5–15 years of experience in strategic purchasing, commodity or category management, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Proven experience in international supplier negotiations and supplier relationship management.
• Experience managing a complex product or supplier portfolio, ideally with electrical, instrumentation or flow components.
• Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation abilities, including contract management.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and technical products.
• Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
