Back End Specialist – Launch Team

About the role

Join Ball’s global launch team as a Back End Specialist, supporting new build, new line and line conversion start‑up performance in spray and necker areas. You will be the on‑site subject‑matter expert for your process area, driving safety, efficiency and spoilage targets while mentoring plant personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Champion a safety‑first culture, ensure equipment compliance and coach new team members.
• Lead equipment start‑up, ramp‑up and early production, providing hands‑on technical support.
• Deliver structured training (≈80% on‑the‑job, 20% classroom) to develop operator and mechanic capabilities.
• Provide real‑time troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions during start‑up.
• Validate SOPs, work instructions and training materials for new equipment.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality to transition lines to steady‑state operation.

Required profile

• Mechanical or electrical qualification, plus Train‑the‑Trainer certification.
• Minimum 5 years experience in can manufacturing, preferably with line launches or rebuild projects.
• Proven ability to mentor less‑experienced team members and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong communication skills in English and ability to work across departments.
