Assistant Professor – Biological AI (Biomedical Sciences)

About the role
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen seeks a highly motivated Research Assistant Professor to lead cutting‑edge research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cardiac biology. The position starts on 24 August 2026 and is limited to three years.
Key responsibilities
- Design, launch and manage independent research projects on AI applied to ECGs, cardiac signals and imaging.
- Publish findings in top‑tier peer‑reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
- Secure external research funding and develop collaborative networks.
- Supervise graduate students, post‑docs and junior researchers.
- Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching within an interdisciplinary biomedical environment.
Required profile
- PhD in health sciences and an MSc in health science.
- Strong mathematical and programming background.
- Proven track record in epidemiology and in applying neural networks to biological signals.
- Extensive experience with Danish national health registers.
- Excellent written and spoken English.

What we offer
- Fixed‑term 3‑year contract (37 hours/week).
- Starting salary of 41,800 DKK per month (approx. 5,594 EUR) with pension contribution of 17.1 %.
