Veterinary Research Assistant – Investigational Radiotherapy (3-year)

About the role

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, together with the Danish Center for Particle Therapy in Aarhus, seeks a motivated Veterinary Research Assistant for a three‑year fixed‑term contract. The role focuses on investigational FLASH radiotherapy for canine cancer patients and aims to generate data that can support future human treatments.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit privately‑owned dogs with solid malignant tumours for the FLASH radiotherapy project.
• Coordinate with referring veterinarians, dog owners, and imaging researchers to schedule functional PET/CT scans and radiotherapy sessions.
• Assist in the planning, delivery, and monitoring of proton FLASH radiotherapy at the Danish Center for Particle Therapy.
• Collect, manage, and analyse clinical and imaging data.
• Prepare scientific manuscripts and present findings at international conferences.

Required profile

• DVM degree with eligibility to practice veterinary medicine in Denmark.
• Strong interest in clinically relevant research and translational oncology.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Experience with canine anaesthesia and veterinary clinical medicine.
• Familiarity with functional imaging techniques (PET/CT).
• Basic knowledge of radiotherapy equipment operation and safety protocols.
• Completion of a FELASA course (preferred).
