About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated early‑career scientist to join the Copenhagen Hepatitis C Program (CO‑HEP) as an Assistant Professor in Molecular Virology and Antiviral Research. The position starts on 1 December 2026 and is a two‑year, full‑time appointment focused on establishing an internationally recognised, extramurally funded research group.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and lead independent research on virus‑host interactions, viral entry, replication, assembly and antiviral strategies.
  • Secure competitive national and international funding to support personnel and projects.
  • Deliver high‑quality lectures in virology and molecular biology at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Supervise master’s students, PhD candidates and post‑doctoral researchers.
  • Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.

Required profile

  • PhD in virology, molecular biology, microbiology or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct cutting‑edge molecular virology research.
  • Strong record of scientific publications and potential to obtain external funding.
  • Commitment to teaching, mentorship and collaborative interdisciplinary work.

Required skills

  • Molecular biology techniques (e.g., cloning, PCR, sequencing).
  • Cell culture methods for viral propagation and assay development.
