Data Engineer – Data Insights & Analytics

About the role

Join BASE life science’s Data Insights & Analytics team as a Data Engineer, designing and operating data pipelines that power advanced analytics for pharmaceutical clients. You will collaborate with business analysts, domain experts, and cross‑functional teams to ensure robust data architecture and high‑quality data delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Build, implement and automate efficient data ingestion pipelines from structured, semi‑structured and unstructured sources.
• Develop and maintain processing solutions using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, SQL, Python and PySpark.
• Apply data‑quality frameworks, error handling, monitoring and auditing to ensure reliable end‑to‑end data traceability.
• Design and execute comprehensive tests to validate data flows and pipeline performance.
• Collaborate with data privacy officers, business analysts and QA teams to align data integration with organizational goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in the pharmaceutical domain.
• At least 2 years of experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure Databricks, AWS or GCP.
• Proven expertise in Python (or equivalent scripting language) and SQL.

Required skills

• Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Delta Lake.
• SQL, relational databases, data modeling (Medallion architecture, dimensional modeling).
• Python, PySpark, ETL/ELT processes, data quality practices.
• RESTful APIs, Git, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Veeva, Salesforce, IQVIA data models.
• Data visualization tools: Power BI, Tableau, Qlik.
